Summer Leaves is a Unfiltered Helles brewed in the German tradition. Crisp and soft; this clean lager was fermented cold and left to rest for an extended period of time on our house lager yeast. Designed to showcase a delicate malt profile, “Summer Leaves” is the perfect beer to welcome in cooler temperatures, changing colors, and cozy sweaters. Think French bread, lemon water crackers, and fall sunsets.

I bought two 16 ounce cans from Beer Drop and I'm keeping the second. This is a very well-brewed lager.
Summer Leaves Looks a pretty amber in a blonde style; nice head to start. Smells are mostly malt. Tastes are balanced leading with the sweet malt, but the hops expertly asserting themselves modestly in the finish. Clean and medium-mouthed. I drank Summer Leaves with Greek food and it did particularly well in moderating the bitter dandelions (known as Horta in Greek.) Handling the bitter tells me hops were just enough and not too bitter.
For my micro-review of Knotted Root, they are impressive with 200+ brews on UnTappd in about four years. While prolific in IPAs and fruited sours, they have only a few lagers; making Summer Leaves even more impressive. But in the final analysis, Knotted Root appears to me to be just another talented brewer in a mountainous paradise just having fun. And why not?
10/22/22 Had the second can at dinner as part of a BBQ taste-off with two veggie burgers. The BBQ was from the Carolinas (South was very tangy and western North was tomato-based and sweeter.) The North won, but Summer Leaves knew its job; which was to calm my palate so it could taste again. Cheers, Y'All !

Damn I love a good Helles. Crisp, lightly bitter nose. Flavors of sweet malt, sourdough bread, and a hint of corn.
