(16 oz can, no date/code; purchased cold single in variety 4-pack at Dock St South yesterday... poured into my Master Grand IPA glass)

L: hazy but not murky, orange-amber liquid... it puts up some head on the pour, but it recedes into a steady, messy cap/collar in no time... a few jagged lace splotches at the top

S: (with the foam holding) banana berry smoothie, orange whip creamsicle; powerful aromas... yeasty muffin overtone later emerges... leafier as it goes, musky even; intensity never weakens

T: fleshy orange rind with more interesting grassy and tropical flavors blooming mid-sip and carrying into the aftertaste, taking on a mildly more spicy edge after some beats, similar to a cayenne-spiced dried mango, but the spice is more warm than peppery hot... massive dry hop flavor in the aftertaste, with more nuances gradually surfacing: tobacco, catmint, herb-infused bread... the orange creamsicle note does resurface after a long pause between sips, as does some milkier grain flavors

F: resinous-drenched with a brief bloated swell up front... the cutting bitterness and underlying dryness quickly lifts the liquid through the finish, alcohol helping to flare a cool flame at the tail end

O: not the type of IPA I'd seek out, but it won me over, and I'd surely have another some other time.. the development of the green flavors was interesting... seems like this would pair wonderfully with crusty bread dipped in herbed olive oil along with some acidic tomatoey something (2321)

Thank goodness the list price was exaggerated. Four pint cans were obtained for $15, a big difference. Well, one of them has now been emptied into a clear Imperial pint glass. No need to worry about an overflowing head, because there wasn't much of one. This is compensated by providing a lovely color to the brew. It's a bright, yet opaque orange-amber. The smell is malt/hop/yeast, to a mild degree. Quite the quaffable brew. With nothing pronounced, there's also nothing out of balance to taste. A little light with the carbonation, that only makes it go down more smoothly (and quickly). It's not distinctively hoppy in any way. Nor is it particularly malty, yeasty, bitter, juicy or dry. This is merely a very nice middle of the road AIPA that should be an agreeable choice, at least at times, for anyone.
