Brewed with cacao nibs, coffee from our neighbors at Green St Roasters! With fresh Madagascar vanilla beans, it features a rcih chocolate character complimented by a sweet vanilla essence. Chocolate malts create its appearance. Gentle hopping to create balance.

(16 oz can, no date/code; purchased single at Dock St South yesterday as part of a variety 4-pack... poured into my recent-grab Yards Real Ale Invitational pint glass)
L: clear med-dark brown on the pour, getting murkier during the top-ups; good build of foam, keeping a steady cap once the glass was at capacity... thin collar later; no lace
S: lots of coffee and chocolate malt and some roasted barley on the nose, heavy; little sweet notes, leaning it toward a robust porter or even Irish dry stout... after a minute or two, some caramelized/charred sugars and, of course, the vanilla emerge... superb, intoxicating intensity of aromas
T: cacao, vanilla, roasted malts, then bitter, toasty, dry cookie-like malts emerge, the coffee dancing on the tips of all the flavors... porter-y because it's malt-laden and roasty-dry, cacao nib-colored, and vanilla softening the edges, especially in the aftertaste
F: feels like heaven?... bitter roasted character lends some lightly acidic invigorating play to the palate... not highly carbonated, so it might drink a little lame for some... the dark and tingle and glow gives it an all-weather texture
O: I had this on draft at the brewery yesterday, only because I was craving a dark beer and the beertender sold it by opining that it was refreshing that it wasn't 'syrup' sweet... I enjoyed it, though I opined back that this wasn't something I'd normally go for... overall, it's so approachable that I could see drinking and sharing a 4-pack or two (2322)
