This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

This smells quite chocolatey, with a touch of roast, cookie dough, oak, and a good bit of vanilla as well.

I really enjoy how Freak Folk has moved into uncharted waters with lagers, barleywines, stouts, and all manner of other beers after starting out as a wild ale only brewery. Their wild ales are still tremendous, but their other beers continue to show their range. This is well done, with a subtle but pleasant barrel character – mostly oakiness, maybe a little bit of caramel. The stout gives off real chocolatey vibes, with a nice creamy and not too sweet vanilla finish.

This is quite creamy, and not really boozy at all, with a nice smooth finish.

This manages to be decadent and dessert-like without being a syrupy nightmare. I definitely prefer my pastry stouts this way.

Polished 8 ball black with a dark tan head of tall spongy foam.

While a little less beautiful in appearance than God Maker, the palate is a little more mature as its more noticeable char pairs well with dark chocolate threads and a warming exhale. The vanilla comes close to sharp but skirts just shy of it.
