There is substantially insufficient Brett in this lager to call it Brett Beer.
That said, it makes for an interesting lager. And I'm going to rate it against its European Lager peers.
Euro Lagers are pretty pretty and Donzoko's is pretty dull, barely above the average. Smells are malty and with some intrigue, but lurking in there instead of hops is baby Brett. Tastes are well-balanced; the modest use of Brett makes this an interesting lager... and something other micros should consider in what, historically, was considered a malty beverage (without gut-threatening bacteria.) Medium-mouthed for a lager, as Big Foam still has fewer bubbles.
I give good Overall Hugs for two reasons: one positive, one negative. The positive is the creative use of Brett and how this lager paired pretty well with a sharp, almost stinky, Stilton. The negative is that Donzoko needs to work on their website if they are going to make it in the middle of nowhere. Just some friendly advice. Cheers !
