Draft at Handlebar. Dark, clear brown, small silky beige head, lacing. Woody, nutty aroma. Taste is malty, sweet, nutty, bit of dryness. Smooth, tasty.

a very light but pretty well made brown ale here, as much red as brown in the color, maybe the name has something to do with that. its mostly clear, has a little shine to it, and even though it doesnt hold much head, the carbonation is fine. its got a little yeast character to the nose, but this isnt real developed here, and in the flavor is kind of blends in, still, more english than american to me, especially on the malt side, where its got some breadiness, a maris otter sort of crystal vibe, less of the roast and cocoa than most american ones have, and with a sort of nutty earthy caramel sweetness in the middle of it instead of the chocolate tones. its not light on flavor, but its light to drink, with a less than medium body, only a little residual sugar keeps it from being kind of a pounder. slight bittering hop at the end for balance, a flash of the old world ale yeast on the swallow, and a mineral profile that presents itself as this warms up. nothing too original or different here, but a mellow and drinkable beer thats somewhere between an amber and a brown.
