A 16 ounce draft pour into a shaker pint at a bar and grill.
Appearance- Ruby brown, opaque, light brown frothy head, average head retention, below average lacing.
Aroma- Coffee, roasted malt, slight orange peel, very weak strength of scent.
Flavor- Coffee, roasted malt, slight orange, mildly sweet, between medium and high strength of flavor.
Mouthfeel- Medium body, average carbonation, highly bitter, mildly sweet, moderately creamy, moderately mouth warming, mildly mouth coating.
Overall- Ruby brown and opaque with average head retention and below average lacing. The bouquet was a mix of coffee, roasted malt and slight orange peel, but the strength was as weak as you could get and still be detectable. The flavor followed the nose, but at a much higher intensity. The addition of orange was not quite as out of place as a steel guitar in a disco song, but I wouldn't say they were a great match either. The mouthfeel consisted of medium body with high bitterness, mild sweetness and moderate creaminess. Overall, the appearance and mouthfeel were nice with this beer, but the flavor profile was a swing and a miss, and the lack of aromatic strength was a huge disappointment.
