We’ve had so much fun throwing fruit into our copitch sour ale base lately, we thought it was time to showcase the base itself. Hints of citrus and lemongrass shine in this easy drinking, slightly dry-hopped sour ale.

Pours almost clear, lemon-yellow sunshine. There is a profusion of rapid tiny carbonation continuously bolstering the huge five-inch head. The head turns rocky from the top and slowly compresses, leaving small patches of lace in its wake. Aesthesis is a very pretty beer within a Pretentious Glass Company pub tulip.
Sweet lemon drops fill the nose before clean hay washes in and is supplanted, ultimately, by late funkiness. Orange and lime come into play much later.
Pleasant tartness helps keep the edge off this otherwise very sweet beer. Lemon sherbet flavor rages on. The finish is long and strong, starting nicely, then adding pith and a mild astringency.
The light body and slick texture seem to elevate the otherwise high carbonation content. Alcohol seems much more prominent than 4.9% ABV suggests.
This is a refreshing beer and easily has the palate cleansing qualities of sherbet. It would be an excellent segway from charcutier to the main dish. I enjoyed it after a long day in the office.
