A modern, Munich-style Festbier. This light, bready lager has medium bitterness and a pleasant spiciness and herbal quality from the use of Czech Saaz hops, Festbier is made with floor malted Pilsner malt, as well as Vienna and Munich malts. A toast to the season…Prosit!

Poured from a 16 oz can into the test glass.
A - Excellent clarity, deep straw color, solid carbonation. A quick to leave white cap, leaves excellent rings of lace with each pull.
S - A bit of yeast up front, then warm white bread, a bit of lemon grass, and earthy hops
T - That bready thread is forward, the yeast element is not eviden, some spicy hop adds a nice touch
M - Medium in body, not sweet, but bends that way, excellent finish.
O - A lovely local lager, very fun to drink. And worth finding.

Can bottom reads '0216003'

Pours a lightly foggy, translucent sunflower gold body topped with a finger of frothy, white foam; sub-par head retention yields a vague, spotty few islands of cap, a moderate, creamy collar, and thin rings of webby lacing lining the walls of the glass.

Aroma highlights pear skins and pale malt with accents of composted fruit upfront; honeysuckle and soft tones of white bread encroach on the middle before a unique, roasty quality darkens notes of clove, banana, and honey on the close.

Taste opens with toasted white bread contrasting black bread crusts, steadily subsiding to piney hops as they inform a citrus rind mid-palate; honeysuckle, grass, and a soft yeast character resumes more traditional malt-hop balance into the back as wildflower honey finishes.

Mouthfeel presents a medium-high body with a moderate carbonation spritzing weakly and sporadically along the palate; a crisp though slightly oily texture to the mid-palate imparts a more subtle, consumptive grit coating the palate toward a stable, if mildly thinning, finish.

Steadily unique and melding a multitude of characteristics not typically associated with a Festbier; this approach is moderately successful, however, the more assertive hop bite interferes with the overall cohesion of the brew, leaving it middling in more mediocre territory than anything else.

A: crystal clear; medium gold in color; with a fairly aggressive pour, a 1 finger finely pored ivory head that receded to a wispy cap; OK lacing;

S: light malt, grass;

T: follows the nose from start to finish; very mild bitterness at the end;

M: light to medium bodied; moderate carbonation; lightly dry finish;

O: not much here;

A moderately strong pour from a 16-oz. can into a 20-oz. mug produced a finger sized white soapy head with average retention, a ring persists. Clear yellow straw color with a hint of gold.

Rising yeasty bread dough greets the nose with grainy malt and faint herbal hops.

Semi sweet with low bitterness, toasted malt and baked wheat (Wheatena?) are featured during the taste. The hops are now both herbal and spicy, strong flavor yet bitterness remains mild. A light alcohol astringency appears during the long finish with an apple cider-like fizz. Not much to the aftertaste, mild spicy hops fade quickly.

Medium light body with soft, lasting carbonation. very smooth from a rich malt backbone.
To me this is a Marzen/Festbier, it is labeled as a Munich style Lager and of course named Festbier.
It has a Hefeweizen like yeasty smell and taste but it's too clear to be a Kellerbier, unless they filtered it.
Nice Beer overall regardless of style.

From the can, poured into a Loophole glass (although a stein might have been better), it pours a clear light golden amber with a modest head that soon reduces to a thin layer with a robust ring. In the nose, it is light malt. In the mouth, it is malty with possibly a bit more of a hop bite than a German Oktoberfest.
