Torpedo Stout

Draft pour into a small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a quarter finger khaki head that dissipates to sparse patches with slight lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, light cocoa and coffee. Flavor is dark toasted malt with a touch of char, light bakers chocolate and coffee. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A mellow domestic stout with light, but clear, chocolate and coffee notes that are well balanced. Many moderate ABV stouts have light enough malt that there is a light astringency in the finish, but all elements here are in harmony with a fine finish. Laid back, but very pleasant and perfect for my lunch at the café.
