a really cool saison from these guys, who just continue to regale us with awesome farmhouse beer, this one a blend of old and new, pluots too, cool. i am immediately taken by its hazy, dense, and deeper malty looking pour, super tall and lasting head on this, sexy lacy, tons of fizz, it looks great, just was expecting a much paler beer. the nose rules, some green glass skunk and funk to it, less bretty than expected, more french type, cleaner and vinous, with the fruit being lightly sweet along with the malt, somewhat tangy too, and skinny, grapey, apricot-esque for a moment, and juicy, really ripe and fresh to me, and right in the center of the aroma and the flavor as well. the fruit is obvious and definitely distinctive, but the cool part of this is how well it just blends in with the saison, some light oak to it, and a touch of sweetness there, it highlights the fruit, but then its lightly hoppy, grainy in a dry way, and winey in the ferment. this is real nice overall, fuller bodied for sure, not as delicate as their best, but great beer, lively as can be, and i am becoming addicted to their house yeast mix. also, does anyone in beer have sexier packaging right now?!
