The label on my can says this release says is 5% ABV and UnTappd has only 2 Check-ins of the 5% in the last month. So let's not fuss. Let's call this the same recipe as 026.
Futako Ale Looks appetising, a nice full foam that laces around all the glass up and down. Smells lack the aromatic hops typical of APAs, but the malt is sweet in the nose of a malt-head like me. Tastes are balanced and hops do linger a little in the finish, but a little more salivation to close will keep the sweet malts in the game longer. (And it will obscure the slightly metallic finish.) Almost medium-mouthed. Decent bubbles.
As for the very good Overall Hugs, that's my good wishes for Futako Beer's future. I went on their website and almost all of it is in Japanese; so lots got lost in translation. But UnTappd pegs Futako as a contract brewer and that may be correct since the website also has a Seta Brewery with a page. So, something multiple is brewing. And in the land of rice, barley needs to be brewed more. Hence, the Hugs.
