A medium bodied ale brewed with roasted malt for a mild toffee flavor. Lightly hopped with East Kent Goldings, adding an earthy character.

On tap at the brewery into can shaped pint glass. Pours hazy very dark ruby red/brown color with a small dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing down the glass. Aromas and flavors of caramel, toast, brown bread, biscuit, cocoa, light coffee, herbal, grass, pepper, dark fruit and yeast earthiness. Light to medium herbal/roasted bitter finish. Medium carbonation and balanced bready/sticky medium body. Some chalky roast and increasing bitter dryness with no acrid/astringent flavors. Minimal warming ABV. Clean and nicely rich malt and balanced hop flavors. Not overly yeasty. A little too roasty, but no complaints. Well made style example.
