Pint in a plastic cup at the Anaheim brewery.
Pours black, translucent brown at the edges. Head is dark tan, and maybe a centimeter thick, but probably not quite. Settles into a thick, uneven 1-2mm skin with big 2-3mm bubbles marring the isotropy.
Smell is dark roast coffee, some charcoal. Bunt toast.
Taste is similar, but add in an undercurrent of grain and honey. Not a lot. Definitely dominated by roasty bitterness.
Mouthfeel is very light and dry. Crisp and clean. Overall, quite good. Didn't know what to expect from a place that strikes me as an IPA house.
