Always a house favorite in the winter, this ESB maintains the same balance as the Alewife, but with loads more malt and hops.

Off the tap this beer was a copper/red color with great clarity and a one-finger, beige head that retained very well. The lacing was also quite good in fishnets. The aroma was mildly toasty with a little caramel malt followed by some very floral hops. The flavors were solid, well-balanced and tight. It started semi-sweet with the caramel malt, then became more nutty with some elements of wood and alcohol heat. The finish was bitter and hoppy. The body was medium, the carbonation good and the mouthfeel semi-smooth.

A nice beer, well-balanced. A red/brown color, with a medium white head and some lacing. It had a mildly malty, mildly sweet aroma. Nothing stood out, but very pleasant. It had a sweet, subdued malty taste, with a little bit of hoppiness that came in late. I liked this beer and would have had more, but we had to drive back to York and my wife didn't want to drive.

Typically not a taste of mine, but this brew was a pleasure.
Copper colour with a fine head tat turned into a stoggy ring. Pretty light for most strong I have seen.
Fairly light malt nose with even fainter hop.
I really like this one because it had an overall less assertive malt profile. Great balance. Kind of like a less than full strong ale, very unoffensive and accessible for the style.
Great smooth medium body that finishes pretty dry for the style.
-Cheers
I would of had a few more, but it was only lunchtime.
