By looks, this is not a West Coast IPA, claimed so by the brewer. Drawn from a tap, it was presented in a somewhat less than full clear pint glass. There was plenty of nearly stark white foam on top of a cloudy apricot-amber liquid. So, it's much more hazy and yellowy hued in color than the typical WCIPA. Rather than a sharp piney and/or resinous aroma, there's nearly none. What's there is mostly mild and characterless starches. Much of the generous head endures. However, its taste is much more aligned with a West Coast IPA than its outward appearances. A sharply citrusy bite opens the taste, with very little contributions from the starches. Its taste mellows a bit through the finish by turning a little more piney. Still, it remains crisp and bitter, without significant taste countering from any malt. So, it actually drinks like a WCIPA, even if it doesn't look or smell like one. Attractive glass lacing indicates accurately that this has a decent mouthfeel, again, closer to a hazy. It certainly compensates for the drab look. Overall, consider this a decent West Coast-East Coast hybrid.
