an unexpected take on a summer ale here, the yeast caught me by surprise, definitely a belgian type blonde, fermentation forward and estery, with an almost wit type character to it, some spiciness and some herbal hoppiness too, stands as flavorful and distinct in the style and really is something different, it took my palate a few pulls to get used to it, but in the end i reckon this is a pretty cool beer. the yeast has a white wine thing going on, a little peppery character, and is very drying on a simple grain base. there are some fruity hops with a candied orange vibe at the end, but also a grassy noble type layer of flavor too, just more intense than those hops usually end up being, its very bold, almost seems odd in its low alcohol package, but maybe thats where the summer part of this comes in, i had it on a patio and it seemed right. maybe a hint of coriander in here too pushing the wit thing even further, at least to me. some might find this too yeast forward for a warm weather session type, but i appreciated it for not being another boring blonde ale. some of the beers have been hit or miss from these guys, probably all depends on perspective. this is fun and robust and zesty and a cool change of pace...
