these guys are sort of becoming the unofficial king of wet hops, not sure how many they made this year, but its a lot, some on their own, some with other relevant hoppy breweries, a very cool and ambitious program, and it was a lot of fun to get the chance to drink through so many of them. mosaic is such a known entity now that its not as striking as it once was, we are all used to it, but its glory is still in the wet hop versions, it is such a better version of itself in these contexts, whenever i think i am bored with it as a varietal, wet hop season comes around and makes me adore it all over again. this is a pretty sturdy, mostly clear ipa, basic as can be on the grain side, fermented cleanly and dryly without any real yeast character. it has some structure, but this is rightly all about the hops. the flavor of this is entwined with the oily resinous texture the wet hops provide, its almost sticky to drink, and is packed with cool fruity layers like dried mango slices, green grapes and gooseberries, ripe peaches, and sweet orange, its gorgeous, so different than other forms of mosaic, and its boldly dosed here, no cat pee, not even really pineapple, another side of this hop. its slick and oily feeling, weedy as it warms, and wonderfully fresh. this beer has great balance too as the bitterness is low, there is nothing vegetal to it at all which sometimes happens with the fresh hop stuff, and the alcohol kind of creeps in and enhances the hops even further. i liked all of the wet hop beers i got to drink in here, but this was one of the standouts. excellent ingredient forward brew. not to be missed!
