A: pours up with a soapy, quickly receding two finger head and a hazy, straw gold that trends towards orange.
S: Not aggressively fragrant, but with some notes of something like pickle brine and hints of tropical fruit.
T: An immediate combination of the cheesiness of aggressive dry-hopping and the mustiness of the aged hops is present, along with a pleasant base of citrus, and a subtle tartness. There is a clean and pleasant graininess here as well, but it’s not immediately apparent. I’m getting the sense that this beer has layers to reveal as it sits. There is a maltiness here that is slightly reminiscent of De Ranke Bitter. I’m also getting crisp hints of lemon, this beer feels equally bitter to the aforementioned beer.
M: Dry, but pretty full bodied for a table beer.
O: The first time I had this beer was on draught at Halfway Crooks and I immediately loved it, when I left I immediately went to their shop to buy some only to discover that they were out of the cans, since then I had been eagerly anticipating the return of this beer and so when I saw it was back in the shop, I placed an order online and picked up three four packs of it. So did my memory serve me well? Not exactly. This is an excellent and distinct beer with some really cool ideas, but it doesn’t taste like I recall it tasting, and I wish that it did. The Velo of my memory had the Gueuze-esque funk of the aged hops and an almost Yuzu-like lemon flavor, supported by a gentle carbonation and a pleasant and unobtrusive malt body, this is an excellent beer, but at present it is not that. Would I recommend it? It’s Halfway Crooks of course I would, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a touch disappointed.

Appearance: Pours a straw-hued, pale yellow body with a whisper of haze to it and a meager, loose, whitish head.
Smell: Pilsner given a gentle caress of honey, tangy-scented spelt, a little, light musty, herbal tone from the hops and a softly phenolic spiciness.
Taste: A light, subdued flavor. The pils takes more of a backseat to the spelt and lightly musty, lightly lemony, herbal hops. Faint graininess, touch of phenolic spice.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Pleasantly flavorful, keenly drinkable. A right, classy drink.
