Pint pour on draught at the brewery. It pours a slightly hazy, honey-orange color with a modest, ecru-colored head and thin film of lacing. Its smell is much better than its appearance with lemon, lime, tangerine, peach, and floral hops. The initial taste includes some sweet notes of tangerine and melon but they are quickly overcome by tart - fairly bitter - grapefruit and lemon. Beneath is a dry, crackery malt. The hop bill isn't apparent but there is considerable bitterness throughout. It's well-balanced. The mouth feel is moderately creamy and well-carbonated, and it's very drinkable at 6.4% ABV. Overall, 1954 blends elements of the New England and West Coast styles. It's fruity, bitter, and refreshing.
