Pours a clear dark amber with lots of white foam in the Maredsous goblet. Fruity aroma with endless stewed dried pear nose and a citrus peel note. Flavor is quite grainy with plus the herbal hop taste. Green tea and Band Aids.

Brewing notes say this was "hopped with Bravo, Saaz and East Kent Goldings, and fermented with two different Saison yeast strains." A serious lot of what the textbooks call peppery phenols and fruity esters.

The yeasty intensity is a bit much but it's interesting for some modest sipping. Very dry finish with bitter hoppy aftertaste. Everything about this could be toned down. I was afraid to try the pink peppercorn version. From the 32 oz crowler can purchased at the brewpub.
