a gluten reduced filtered and cleaned up hefeweizen type, and a decently well done beer, but another recipe decision in here im not wild about, which is the addition of ginger and lemon. it doesnt need them, the yeast gives this enough fruit and spice character, and even though the added ingredients are very subtle, its still unnecessary and distracting. this isnt perfectly clear, and i look for that in this style. it also doesnt have much head from the tap, which an unflattering look for any beer, but especially a wheat like this. the nose is fine, a little thin to me, the ginger has a touch of sweetness alongside it, the wheat a little rawness, and the yeast quite distinct. the flavor is the same, light orange and toasted notes to this, the earthy wheat with some residual sugar alongside it, and the light tang of the lemon clashing with the yeast esters just a little bit, but more and more as it warms. i wanted to like this more than i did, its a little cheap tasting with the ginger and lemon, and the beer is a bit thin and flat in feel. i know these guys are still new, they should dial in the base beer before deviating from it with the extras. summery and not at all bad, but this should be objectively better than it is.
