i guess these guys are numbering their beers now and naming them by style, interesting development, not sure i love that, but this beer is excellent, a very clean and light, yet highly flavorful rice lager, not quite sure if it fits the japanese rice lager style or not, but probably closer to that than any other category we have here on BA, maybe light lager, but with the rice i added it here. it is made with rice and as such extremely light in body and on grain flavor, less pils type malt than a lot of these have, just very very pale, straw colored and clear and fizzy from the can. its almost too light in texture to hold its flavor, like it all hits at once and then its gone, its only on my tongue for a flash, even though what i taste is both interesting and robust, the trajectory is almost too short, insanely dry. i get a light floral layer from the rice, some new zealand type hops, kiwi fruit, honeydew melon, pinot grigio grapes, but almost no bitterness at all, which keeps this drinking delicate. neatly herbal, lightly spicy out of nowhere too on my second sip, and with a uniquely flavored lager yeast strain doing its thing, almost a mexican type lager yeast profile to me, rather than a european one, neat in here whatever it is. i go back and forth on whether or not i like it being so light overall, but in the end i really do, its summery, refreshing, and brisk without being the least bit boring. i love the hop profile, the yeast, and what the rice does for this. these guys are making some great beers right now, and branding aside, this is another winner. majorly modern global sort of lager here, like something stillwater would do, and thats a compliment!
