If you give a mouse a cookie, they’re going to ask for a glass of milk. If you give a brewer a cookie, they’re going to make it into a beer and rest it in Booker’s Bourbon barrels. Drawing inspiration from Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, this Imperial Porter is something both your bourbon swilling grandma and pastry chef grandpa will have a hard time putting down. Enjoy the decadence.

16 ounce can into a snifter. Canned 2/7/22, had 7/1/22.

Pours a mostly opaque cola color, with a brief head and a few specks of cling. Aromas of vanilla, bourbon, some chocolate and oak, light cinnamon. Has somewhat of a cookie dough smell. Flavors of vanilla, bourbon, malt, some chocolate, light oak, faint cinnamon. It does seem to have a cookie dough taste, to a degree. It’s also fairly sweet. Smooth, a thinner medium to full body, appropriately carbonated.

The stars are the prominent vanilla and the strong barrels. Surprisingly, the cookie dough does have some impact, unless I’m deluding myself. The thinness is a bit of a negative with this one. Still, it’s enjoyable.

004 from By All Means was an intriguing purchase as it was labeled as a BA pastry porter. The first flavors that pop are caramel mixed with a tangy yeast, almost Belgian-like. The lacing is thin and you can feel the difference in a porter vs. a stout. The pastry is definitely there, creating a rich/sweet experience.

Slate black body, tan cap. Oatmeal and cinnamon with huge vanilla backed by sneaky leather bourbon and malts in nose. Taste is a very sweet version of the nose, don't really get the dark fruit they were hoping for, but plenty of cinnamon laced oatmeal, bourbon, huge vanilla and chocolate, along with a sickly sweet sweetbread notes that must be the cookie dough, that ingredient seems unnecessary. Feel is thin, wet, booze tears right through the sweet body, cloys a bit. Wanted to like this more than I did

Pours dark chocolate colored with a light carbonation and head. Aroma is very chocolate with profiles of oats and cinnamon when one focuses hard enough. Taste is surprisingly light, very chocolate again with a more pronounced vanilla profile. For this amount of ABV, it is extremely well hidden. A most interesting brew.
