a decent if somewhat generic pils here, better than the other beers we had in here, but still a little on the amateur side to me, especially in terms of the fermentation, it should be drier than it is, and there are a few weird almost soapy notes coming off the yeast, but i think the clarity is great, and the higher than normal hop dosing works here with the slightly fuller body and bit of residual sugar, and it seems like a good lager for cooler weather, maybe a little much for high summer, but this time of year it felt right. bright yellow in the glass with an inch of pure white head on it, clear as can be. the aroma is a little floral, elderflower even, with some light honey and biscuit grain sweetness and a hint of grassy herbal freshness, some lemony thing here too, a light doughy rawness from the yeast, as well as a mildly phenolic aspect that seems out of place. the flavor is all of this, drier than it smells but not totally so, some hearty body from the malt, and some bitterness at the end from the hops, a hint of sweet orange along with more familiar noble earthiness and herbal qualities. i get some minerals but its not as clean or familiar on the water chemistry, and seems way more american than european in this regard, lightly metallic to close as well. i like this being a little different, and what may be technical flaws actually dont hurt the flavor much, it all comes together pretty well. these guys have some growing up to do, but the potential in this one seems to be there...
