Canned on 6/22/21. Cellared up to now 1/2/26. After aging for 5.5 years still a fantastic beer. Perfect brown/black pour. Aroma was coffee and chocolate. The taste was mostly coffee and chocolate with marshmallows with the maple and coconut melded in for a wonderful sip. Cinnamon seemed to be missing. Maybe after 5+ years it dissipates. Overall, I couldn't think of a beer being any better than this smooth and flavorful brew.

Type: 16-oz. can

Glass: Revision 12-oz. tulip
Price: $8.99 (10 pct. of. $9.99)
From: San Diego Wine & Beer Co.
Purchased: Feb. 15, 2022
Consumed: Feb. 26, 2022
Misc.: Canned on June 22, 2021 at 8:56 a.m. ET
Stopped at San Diego Wine & Beer Company on the way home from a work function. Intended to pick up six cans to get the 10 pct. off but almost $60 later I came away with eight cans. After getting a six-pack of IPAs, I decided to add two stouts. Came across this monster when a tag advertised the grade on Untappd (4.45 as I reviewed this). I’m a sucker for pastry stouts so I pulled the trigger. Untappd description was “This decadent Imperial Stout was treated with coffee, VT maple syrup, marshmallows, toasted coconut and cinnamon.”
Poured a pitch-black color with three fingers of frothy-to-fizzy tan head. Could see a few bubble streams creeping up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect foamy spiderweb lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled milk chocolate syrup, rich black coffee, marshmallow, vanilla, maple syrup, hints of toasted coconut, brown sugar, cacao, hints of cinnamon, caramel and toffee. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted a little better than the nose. In order got dark coffee, cinnamon, marshmallow, vanilla, milk chocolate syrup, toasted coconut, maple syrup, caramel and toffee. Shocked that this was only 12.3 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.50)
Full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. (Feel - 4.75)
Just a tremendous beer. I’m a sucker for pastry stouts but this wasn’t too sweet. Such a great beer. (Overall - 4.50)
