Pours a dark brown to black color with practically no head. The nose has a tarty raspberry note with practically no roast. The flavor profile also features raspberries, but, unfortunately, it is a medicinal fake taste. The body is quite thin for the style.

Canned on:

A - Pitch black pour with micro-thin lacing.

S - Chocolate roast, fudge brownie, light raspberry,

T - Some raspberry and some chocolate malt, and residual toasted cocoa.

M - Medium body that's silky and thin around the edges with very little warming on the way down.

O - This beer is a total mess with little to no personality. On the other hand, the 18% is well hidden but not worth the price of admission.

Poured from can into pint glass. No head at all. Soda like body. Nose of sweet raspberry but almost artificial. Alcohol is hidden well but overall very mediocre

The entire contents of a pint can were easily emptied into a clear glass liter mug. Not much of a head was produced by the single pour. The color of the brew is almost black coffee brown, with just a tint of dark chocolate brown shade to notice. It's not flat, but it's not particularly effervescent. The aroma is a combination of chocolate, raspberry, pastry dough and roasted barley, in more of a singlular smell than specific notes. The balance in taste is good and there the chocolate and raspberry flavors can be isolated. Of course it's sweet, but not to any detriment. As anticipated, this runs a little flatly across the tongue. But, the overall mouthfeel doesn't suffer much by it, as the body is smooth and sufficient enough to carry the flavors and the appreciable ABV. This certainly works as a dessert beer, which means no one will want to have more than one or two in a sitting. Best, it brings just enough subtle flavors and disguised ABV to do just what it seems to be intended to do.
