Drunk on draught at Gasthof Goldener Greifen in Rothenburg ob der Tauber in September 2023.
L: Brilliant golden yellow with a fluffy white head. Minimal carbonation in the glass.
S: Creamy, biscuity malt with the slightest hop body.
T: Clean, slightly sweet, fresh grass, mildly bitter. Very drinkable.
M: Full and smooth. Minimal carbonic prickle.
O: A very nice, very drinkable pilsner.
Cheers!

Had chatted with the owner of the divey bar I visited earlier in the day (28SEP09) in Ochsenfurt. There I had tried the Oechsner Pils. She advised me that there were 2 breweries here, Oechsner and Kauzen, both making a Pils. Which is best, I asked. She advised there's no common answer; for some Oechsner, others Kauzen. Well, I stopped into the Kauzen Stube to form my own opinion. Gots me a 0.4l glass for 2.40EU to go along with my Zigeunerschnitzel.
This Pils was a clear, medium golden, with a voluminous off-white dollop of foam rising above the rim of the glass. It ebbed steadily down, leaving a super wake of lace behind. Bready malt hits the nostrils, along with a nice, spicy hop kick. This was quite smooth for a Pils, with minimal prickle, and had a medium body.
Light sweetness leads off, a bit biscuity. I also detect a smidge of fruit, as in green apple (I know, odd for a Pils, but tasty). Nice hops come around quickly, a bit floral but also with an herbal touch. It almost has a spicy bite to it. A decent Pils, and better the Oechsner, imo. Good for a couple of glasses... Prosit!!

Yellow, with greenish hint. Almost no bubbles. Not too much foam, but very fluffy. Very clean appearance.
The smell is also very clean. Delicate, herbal, fresh. Harmonic.
The taste is definitely bitter. Fresh, thirst-quenching, very hoppy. Classic pils, well done.
Light body, very drinkable.
Dry aftertaste, and bitter, with floral notes, camomile.
