Brick Oven Amber
- Foxtown Brewing
American Amber / Red Ale
ABV: 5.2 updated from 4.9 revisited
Look: 3.75 l 5.0
Deep amber leaning toward a copper-red hue, roughly SRM 14, with a touch of cloudiness reported from a brewery sample but Crystal clear out of a can. A short-lived off-white head forms but dissipates quickly, leaving little to some lacing behind.
Smell – 3.75
Malt-forward aroma featuring caramel malt sweetness. Clean and inviting, with no harsh notes—very much driven by the malt profile.
Taste – 3.75
Sweet, malty character upfront with pronounced caramel malt flavors. The finish brings a mild hop bitterness that balances the sweetness without overpowering it. Malt remains the star from start to finish. Though the can says Simcoe and Cascade they're just holding the structure together
Feel – 3.75
Smooth and easy-drinking with a medium body. Carbonation feels appropriate, contributing to its drinkability without sharpness.
Overall – 3.75
A solid and approachable amber ale. Malt-forward, smooth, and inviting, with just enough hop presence to keep it balanced. The mild hop fade encourages another sip, making this a very drinkable and well-executed example of the style. Side by side it's four shades darker than Bell's Amber ale

This is a 12oz. can dumped into a 20oz. glass. There is a one finger of light tan foam over a dark amber brew that is clear showing me a large amount of carbonation. Looks tasty! The head did recede to an eighth inch with minimal lacing.
The aroma is sweet bready malts. This is noticeable from the time the can has been popped.
The flavor is caramel malts, light bitterness cutting the sweetness nicely, and a crisp lightly spiced finish.
The mouthfeel is creamy and silky smooth. This is very easy to drink.
This is Piggly Wigley's craft brewery of the month, and this amber was very enjoyable! Good job Foxtown!

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours deep red with a tiny light brown head that disappears very quickly. Smells of caramelized grain with hints of creaminess. Tastes of caramelized grains with sweet fruit notes. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a good beer.
