Foxtown Brewing – Old Ozaukee

Look (4.0)
Pours a gorgeous, clear amber. Medium CO₂ bubbles rising nicely — some fast, some slow — which is really the beauty of this one. A head forms but dissipates rather quickly. I tried to refresh it with a vertical pour… not much staying power. Not a requirement, just an added feature when it happens. The clarity and the steady rise of bubbles are what stand out.

Smell (3.75)
Direct from the can, it smells like fresh bread and Czech hops — quite possibly Saaz. Clean, classic, inviting.

Taste (4.0)
Malty and a little sweet up front. Then the hops shut it down if you wait between sips. There’s a definite one-two punch: first you taste the flavor of the Czech hops, then the bitterness shows up as the second act. Balanced, but deliberate.

Mouthfeel (4.0)
Another one-two here. The carbonation brings a little bite, but the malt profile softens it at the same time. The malt relaxes the mouth before it slides down the back of the throat. About halfway through, the alcohol adds a subtle warmth. The hops close things down with just a touch of pucker.

Overall (4.0)
By halftime, the head is completely gone. Lacing is faint but present. The carbonation softens as it warms, leaving sweet malt and Czech hop bitterness in a more contemplative balance. Do I want another? No — I’m completely satisfied. And sometimes, that’s a great thing.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours deep red with a small off white head. Smells of sweet caramelized grain. Tastes of caramelized grain and fresh fruit. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall,
