Flannel Vibes
Foxtown Brewing Company — Wisconsin, USA
American Brown Ale | 8.7% ABV
Look – 3.5
Pours a deep brown with chestnut and mahogany highlights and good clarity. An off-white head forms with decent retention before settling to a persistent ring. Visually appealing and solidly within style.
Smell – 3.25
Malt-forward aroma with toasted bread, light cocoa, and subtle nuttiness. Alcohol is noticeable and warming, slightly ahead of the malt.
Taste – 3.5
Rich toasted malt and cocoa lead the palate, followed by nutty sweetness and restrained roast. The malt character shows good depth and roundness, holding up well against the elevated ABV. Alcohol warmth emerges mid-palate but doesn’t completely dominate. Finishes medium-dry with lingering toast and light chocolate.
Mouthfeel – 3.25
Medium-bodied with a rounded texture, likely influenced by mineral content (calcium-forward water). Moderate carbonation. Alcohol adds weight but slightly disrupts balance.
Overall – 3.25
A flavorful but stylistically stretched American Brown Ale. The malt profile is expressive and well-developed, but alcohol presence and mineral dryness soften drinkability. Best enjoyed in smaller pours rather than a full pint. With improved alcohol integration, this could push firmly into very good territory.
Revisited It 2/17/2026;had a cherry note.... Dark fruit... Still delicious
