Hidden Well Hazy IPA – Foxtown Brewing
American IPA | 7.2% ABV

Overall: 4.25 / 5

Hidden Well lives up to its name—this is a hazy that reveals more the longer you spend with it.

Look (3.75):
Surprisingly light in color for the style, with a soft, classic haze. Pours clean and inviting, leaving behind a nice lace as the glass empties.

Smell (3.85):
Bright citrus up front—grapefruit and what immediately reads as lemon drop hop character. There’s a faint ammonia-like note reminiscent of Batch 126 sampled at the brewery, noticeable but not distracting. Tropical notes linger just beneath the surface.

Taste (4.5):
Citrus-forward from the start, led by orange and lemon peel. The hops present an acidic, dry bitterness without becoming harsh. Mid-palate brings a subtle malt backbone before a surprise lemon-drop sweetness emerges—think Ferrara Pan Lemonheads rather than sour lemon or sweet lemonade. As it opens, layers continue to unfold: subtle pineapple arrives late, orange sweetness fades, and lemon remains the anchor. Yeasty esters appear toward the finish, adding complexity and depth.

Mouthfeel (5.0):
Outstanding. Soft, dazzling, and incredibly drinkable. Finishes with a quenching tang that keeps you coming back. Even the post-sip (and yes, the burp) confirms there’s more going on beneath the surface.

Overall Impression (4.25):
This beer opens up beautifully as it warms, revealing unexpected depth and balance. Sweet lemon, restrained tropical fruit, excellent mouthfeel, and thoughtful hop expression make this a standout hazy IPA. Well done—and absolutely one worth revisiting (and possibly updating).
