Pours cloudy straw with a compact but everlasting head. Apricot, mango, pineapple and berries abound in the nose - very fresh and juicy. The taste is redolent with the same fruit flavors with a strong resinous bitter edge and a subtle pale malt ballast. The mouthfeel is full bodied with loads of mouthcoating hop bitterness.
A fantastic IPA with a big hop profile even by today's liberal standards. Complex and juicy. A must try.

473 mL can from the LCBO; coded G1524 (likely Jul 15 2024) and served barely chilled.
Pours a hazy deep gold colour, featuring two fingers of puffy, foamy white head that recedes at a steady pace. Five minutes later, I'm left with a wide, frothy collar and patchy cap, with gobs of beautiful lace stuck to the glass - very nice, thumbs up, etc. The aroma is fantastic, noticeable immediately after cracking open the can; there's mango, pear, pineapple and passion fruit, as well as orange, grapefruit, spicy hops and just a hint of rose blossoms.
Wow, this is an excellent juicy NEIPA. Fruity hop flavours of pineapple, orange, grapefruit, pear and melon are discernible, supported by a bready, wheaty malt backbone. Floral, slightly resiny hops assert themselves on the back end, but the fruitiness retakes the reins pretty quickly; the aftertaste is a blend of citrus, stone & orchard fruitiness that lingers for a second or two. On the fuller side of medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a soft, juicy mouthfeel; there's little sign of that 6.8%, either. Finishing this glass was easy, but one serving per night would be my limit.
Final Grade: 4.26, an A-. Willibald doesn't have a shelf presence where I live, but I've heard only good things about this brewery - and City Slicker has convinced me that said hearsay is well-founded. There are much older breweries in this province that *still* haven't managed to put out an IPA of this quality! While the aroma was the highlight for me, there are no real weak spots here - just a well-rounded, top-notch hazy pale ale that I will buy on sight in the future. Highly recommended, especially if you can find it fresh - bravo, Willibald!

473ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase. Review from notes.
Appearance - Mildly hazy rich golden color with amber highlights. A couple fingers of medium-lived off-white head.
Smell - Citrus mostly with orange and passionfruit shining through the most. Wheat malt backbone.
Taste - Surprisingly sweet and juicy, orange and passionfruit again with a sprinkling of grapefruit. Quite juicy.
Mouthfeel - Medium-full bodied and lower than average carbonation. Pretty crushable and juicy.
Overall - A very solid IPA from Willibald, certainly not their first.
