Taster at brewery. Clear amber pour, spotty head, streaky lacing. Mild malty, caramel aroma. Fuller caramel notes in the taste, with a nutty bitter finish.

this is a pretty solid brown ale from these guys, especially as a first batch of it on their new system. i dont think the world really needs another brewery to come into existence to make beer this basic, and i suspect they will get to some more innovative stuff when they get things dialed in a little bit, but this is a highly serviceable example of the style, light as they go, almost as much amber as brown in the glass, not quite clear, but with a good head on it from the tap. it smells and tastes real true to style, with a dry cocoa powder element to the grain, a touch of sweetness in the middle with a caramel and bready note, and a cleaner finish with just a little bit of fermentation character. lightly chocolate forward, a hint of hazelnut or something even too, and a lighter body for the style. this is nice day drinking beer, works well in colder weather, and is a not at all distracting accompaniment to the nice food they make in here. i was hoping for a little more adventurous beers in here, but the execution of what they did have on was there. solid brown but largely unremarkable at the same time...
