Copenhagen 5/3 2026. 33 cl can from Øltanken web-shop. C3PO and R2D2 on the can, That is a take on a mindless philosopher.
Pours opaque dark brown with a small beige head. A bit bubbly, Disappears after a minute leaving a somber dark fluid behind. No lacing.
Aroma is intense with a sweet sugars dark odor with a prominent touch of alcohol. Dark roasted malts, toffee and caramel. Brown sugar in abundance. Dark rum and a strange whiff om menthol and mint.
Light carbonation. Thick, oily, viscous, soft and a little sticky, gently tingling texture.
Flavor is intense with a heavy sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet and sugary. Lingering. Finish is boozy and sugary.
Heavy, sugary boozer with a touch of mint.

Well, I thought I'd seen so many Mom 'n Pop shops that they really started to seem the same no matter how different they really were. Then along comes Emperor's Brewery who kinda breaks the mold and starts the cycle all over again. While many micros are funny, this one is nearly riotous. And his laser-focus on Imperial Porters and Stouts is unique. For all this character, I give the Emperor's Brewery excellent Overall Hugs.
As for this BA Imperial Porter, it Looks interesting and persisted four little Lilly pads of protein swirling foam. (How do they do that?) Smells were as advertised: blueberries are strongest, then the cheesecake, then the rum barrel. For Tastes, it doesn't quite pull that off although he nearly gets right what seems to me impossible chemistry. Viscous in a viscous style. I'm not done with this brewery because I'm not a Jedi yet !
