The fine folks over at Weathered Souls started this amazing project with the intention of uniting breweries across the world to raise and donate money to support BIPOC and any marginalized groups in their local areas. With the help of Riverbend Malt and Craftpeak, all proceeds from our 15 barrel batch will go directly to our friends at Green Opportunities, right here in AVL.

A: Pours an opaque thick viscous jet black in color with light to moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint dark cola brown + dark chestnut brown + dark garnet red colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense creamy sudsy foamy mocha colored head that slowly reduces to a large patch of mottled very thin film covering a little more than 75% of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of roasted + toasted + caramel + chocolate + slightly charred malts with a light to moderate amount of caramel + dark fruit (plum + fig) sweetness. Light aromas of fresh coffee and a light to moderate aroma of earthy hops. Moderate aromas of cocoa and chocolate with a hint of vanilla.
T: Upfront there are moderate to strong flavors of roasted + toasted + caramel + chocolate + slightly charred malts with a light to moderate amount of caramel + dark fruit (plum + fig) sweetness. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of rich chocolate + cocoa and a hint of vanilla. Finally there are light flavors of fresh coffee and earthy hops. Overall there is a moderate amount of roasty bitterness with a light amount of charred flavors that linger well through the finish.
M: Medium to full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth with a hint of alcohol warming in the finish.
O: Drinks pretty easily considering the strength and there is only a hint of alcohol presence in the smooth mouthfeel. Very enjoyable with a decent amount of malt complexity and not too much sweetness making it rather well balanced. Could definitely have this one again.
