Collaboration with Two Tides Brewing Co.
Half of the dual-release Two Tides Collab mix-pack situation is “2020 Feels”, a Cornado Tiki-inspired Sour IPA. Starting off with a base of @Riverbend 2-Row, and a heavy dose of Spelt, Oats, and Wheat, with just a touch of Honey malt and Lactose to balance things out. Soured overnight in our Kettle, fermented with our House IPA yeast, lightly kissed with Enigma hops, refermented with Passionfruit, dry hopped AGAIN with MORE Enigma, and then rested upon JUUUUUUST enough Macaroon Coconut.
Notes of straight-up fresh Passionfruit, Shark Attack fruit snacks, juicy and tart Clementines, overripe Apricot, and the faintest kiss of Coconut Macaroons on the back-end. The lesser-known Coronado cocktail has many variations, but this combo is a real stunner. Big Summer vibes here, y’all.
(We’re still hanging onto that last glimmer of summer here, y’all)?

A: Pours a lightly hazy pale to medium copper in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation along with moderate amounts of small particles in suspension and moderate burnt orange + honey + golden yellow colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy foamy off-white head that reduces to a large patch of slightly mottled thin film covering a little more than 85% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of dank tropical/passionfruit + citrus/tangerine as well as light to moderate aromas of coconut over the top of just shy of moderate aromas of biscuit + oat + wheat + honey malts with moderate amounts of lactose + honey-like sweetness. Light aromas of tart lacto lemon citrus.
T: Upfront there are just shy of moderate flavors of biscuit + oat + wheat + honey malts with moderate amounts of lactose + honey-like sweetness. That is followed by light to moderate flavors of tart lacto lemon citrus. Then there are moderate to strong flavors of dank tropical/passionfruit + citrus/tangerine as well as light to moderate aromas of coconut. Finally there are light to moderate flavors of juicy tropical/mango + tropical/papaya hops which impart minimal amounts of bitterness which fade away quickly leaving moderate lingering tart tropical fruit flavors.
M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Moderate amounts of soft/fluffiness mid-body and just shy of moderate amounts of acidic prickliness in the finish.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a refreshingly tart mouthfeel. Enjoyable but these fruited sour IPAs are a style that I cannot always get behind (sometime they are just too tart and sweet with the hop presence being too subtle).
