DSSOLVR opened shortly after my last trip to Asheville, so this is from an unplanned three-way trade with Dave and one of his buddies. And I am grateful.
It pours cloudy yellow (SRM 3-4). A thin white head makes a brief appearance before dissipating completely from a Pretentious Glass Co. dimpled mug. It lacks the dense smoothie quality found in many fruited kettle soured beers. Personally, I think that is one of many significant differences between the two types of beers included in this new style.
The aroma oscillates between pineapple and marshmallow. Vanilla gives way to something odd, maybe a mild solvent. Interestingly this is only a minor drawback.
The first sip is succulent, with a mild tartness that is quickly followed by pineapple. Marshmallow and graham crackers work their way in, as does a strong vanilla. Sweetness builds, as the pineapple returns more prominently than it had been initially. The finish is long, lush, and full, imparting something similar to a mimosa.
The texture is velvety while the body is full to medium. Alcohol is more present than expected. The carbonation is spritzy.
This is a pleasant Fruited Sour; all be it a modest interpretation of this developing style. It could easily replace a punch cocktail at a garden party or a Sunday brunch.

Had 2 cans. The first was definitely infected. The second was solid.
