“The Daily ESB” is a fresh nod to our buds in the Durham area at Daily Beer Bar, and our collective love of Pub Ales of all kinds. Specifically, we thought it would be very fun to collab on a style that we all love, but rarely find in the wild: English Special Bitter, aka the one and only ESB, aka essentially an English Pale Ale.
We mashed this with a base of Riverbend malt Southern Comfort and then a dash of Proximity Malt Crystal Malt for depth. Then we hopped it in the Kettle and Whirlpool with a very heavy-handed assault of East Kent Golding and Target hops, straight outta the UK. We fermented it low and slow with our House Pub Ale yeast, and spunded it for natural carbonation on Cask, before bumping it up to normal-human-levels of carbonation for wholesale draft and cans.
We experience a rich, malty, hoppy (in a VERY English way) beer for crushing in multiples with your pals. Big notes of freshly toasted biscuits drizzled in Orange Marmalade, a fresh cup of English Breakfast tea, a face full of Honeysuckle, and slammin’ some brews with your buds over a couple reaaal nice sandwiches…like one does at Daily Beer Bar.
