Teaming up with Durty Brewing, Dssolvr brewers seek to make a classic American IPA by looking to the land down under. All southern hemisphere hops ensures that a fruity, smooth and bitter session lies ahead.
Pouring an unexpectedly hazy gold, the dense and nearly turbid ale suggests more of a New England styled ale. As its creamy froth pulls from its body, a fruity perfume of citrus, tropical, berry, wine and herbal scent greets the nose. But its first sip is rather creamy with cereal, shortcake and honeysuckle in character.
Racing past the persistent grain foundation, the hops take control of the middle palate with the bright and nearly tangy flavors of white grapefruit, under ripened orange, passionfruit, kiwi, white grape and gooseberry in a tantalizing sherbet-like fruitiness. Trending herbal and moderately bitter, the session steers toward a dryness of verbena, green tea, sassafras, cedar and hemp to close.
Full bodied, creamy and smooth to close, the beer is part hazy and part bitter as it closes with an even-keel bitter-sweet character and a malty-dry mouthfeel. Trailing with fruit peels, perfumy grasses and hemp, the session is all IPA.
