Bought from Kings Cove in Holland on Lake Michigan... far from a Salt Lake. A pleasant find.
As an amber ale, there are no surprises; but it Looks appetizing. Smells mix the sweet malt with the cinnamon. Tastes are well-balanced as it is not sweet, yet it was refreshing after an autumnal bike ride. At 5.12 ABV.... Perhaps skinny in the mouth; but that is OK, in part because I wish I were skinny in the waistline.
My first from Zolupez, I went on their website and was met with a warm story of how a home brewer worked on his recipes so that the beer was worthy of his Mother's cooking... who learned that in Mexico. A heartwarming story of immigrants to the U.S. and enriching our culture and kitchen. As only three years old, this brewery is impressive. I wish I had bought more Amber and other samples from Zolupez while in Holland. What are the chances of breaking the Illinois market ?

12oz can from Boise Co-op. Medium to dark amber, clear, small off-white head. Aroma is light with a hint of cinnamon. Taste is faint caramel malts, a small blast of cinnamon. Finishes dry and metallic. Seems kind of weak....
