Pours a slightly hazy golden color with orange highlights and a two finger soapy white head that persists. Aroma is floral, peach, orange, and a bit of grass. Taste grass, lemon zest, light grapefruit and citrus/tropical notes, with a strong first taste of herbal flowers and citrus peel. Mouthfeel is light, crisp, and zippy with carbonation. Overall, this is a great beer, and it wonderfully showcases all the elements of the Ella hop variety.

i am very grateful to have received this box in the mail, and think its an awesome idea for a series of beers, especially with some of the obscure and even unheard of hop varietals they are using, what a treat to get to drink through some of these side by side and compare and learn about the hops! ella ia gorgeous, ive known that from some other beers, but i see it more in saisons and wild beers that have a lot else going on than i do in a simple pale like this, so its nice to taste the hops without so much other stuff also happening. floral and bright, springy and new, blooming and highly herbaceous, these hops have notes of white grape, white raspberry, dandelion and elderflower, light grass and hay, and a soft lemony citrus too, not quite as intense as some of the other australian and new zealand phenoms like galaxy and nelson, but with some of that tropical essence as well. its awesome in a pale ale like this, but i also think the heft of this is just a little high for the delicate side of these hops, like, they might work better at this concentration in something like a pilsener or a kolsch, with less maltiness overall. in the end though, this is a delicious pale ale, as all of them in the box are, and ella is a hop that is already getting out there a bit and for good reason. its unique but not weird, and seems robust enough to be versatile across a number of styles, but at least in this context has super low bitterness. tasty beer, reminds me of spring. huge thanks to my friend for sending this box of beers out for me to try as a random act of kindness! much love!

Poured out a clear, golden-amber color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled very fruity and juicy. Tropical aromas. It taste of sweet toasted caramel with a pineapple, grapefruit and citrusy hop bite.

I had this one right after the Perle. It's interesting to note the differences, but the similarities include the golden haze and brilliant tall head. This one is more aromatic, with a pungent, earthy, musty smell. The taste is a little resiny, and it has a sharper spice note. Same body and still very flavorful.

Gold to copper in color with a light haziness. There's a fingernail of off white to tan head covering half of the top. Moderate lacing. The nose is pineapple, green apple, and pear. I'm tasting that green apple to pear and cournterbalancing that is just a touch of light crackery malt. The mouth is light, crisp, and smooth.

Poured from the tap a light hazy yellow color with two fingers of white head.

Aroma of pineapple and candy sugars.

The taste followed the aroma. Bright taste of pineapple along with a light candy sugar sweetness.

Light-to-medium bodied and crisp with a moderate carbonation.

I enjoyed this beer from the Schlafly 'Hop Trial Series'. Well done.
