not much overt ginger flavor, but definitely gets spicier as it warms up.

12 oz. bottle poured into a Burley Oak snifter (from notes when I had it on 2/10/15)
A: Beautiful golden blonde with no lacing or collar.
S: Kind of like a farmhouse saison. A bit funky. Some caramel/toffee in there with ginger underneath it all.
T: Weird ginger taste that might come from the fermentation or how they added the ginger to it. Almost astringent but not like your normal ginger. A definite sipper.
M: Strong and sharp carbonation.
O: I'm a huge fan of ginger in all its forms: beer, soda, tea, syrup, or candy. reminds me of another beer that I can't really place at the moment. Glad it is strong and flavored and not mild/bland with just a bit of ginger.

Shared a 12 oz bottle on 12/26/14.
A - translucent golden pour with large bubbles causing the head to quickly dissipate.
A - fresh ginger is all over the aroma. Doesn't have the sweet aroma of a ginger ale (soda) but is somewhat similar. It's almost as though the sugar of the soda was replaced with more ginger. Very interesting and surprisingly inviting.
T - the taste is also mostly fresh ginger. The malt and hops play supporting roles to the ginger. There is also a peppery aftertaste that provides a very dry finish.
F - the bubbles are a bit large here and make this feel more like a soda than a beer. Not a major problem, but not ideal for my liking.
O - this is another if those beers that I feel like falls into a catch-all category and is difficult to rate to the style. I personally like fresh ginger with my sushi and this beer takes that fresh flavor and bottles it. This would also be a very refreshing "just finished mowing the lawn" beer. I enjoyed this very much so the numbers are certainly based on personal preference more than beer judging guidelines.

Gold in color with excellent clarity. The small amount of white head dissipates quickly and only covers half of the top. Aroma is solely of ginger which is a bit simple. It tastes very briefly like a pilsner flavored with ginger. The mouth is initially watery and then you actually get a highly carbonated gentle warming in your throat. This is beer meets ginger ale with a little burn in the fade. Odd.
