I would drink almost anything out of a bourbon barrel. I don't know how that works so well.
I had this at Barcade in Jersey City, NJ. They served this in a red wine glass (should I call this a goblet?) because the ABV was so high. They had this leftover from a tap takeover earlier in the week. I was surprised to see that I was only the second one to ever review this offering.
There wasn't much to the nose. I got a light bourbon, malt, and coffee. The flavor had a lot more bourbon. The bourbon overwhelms a lot of other facets to the beer. You get some coffee and a little hopping.
I do like the feel on my palatte. This beer had good texture.
I recommend bourbon aged anything, this beer included. Among bourbon beers, this one fits right in the middle.

Got a growler of this bourbon barrel stout that was labled 10.5% ABV. $12.99
Pours pretty dark with a nice thick toasted head. I can see a spec of light brown when holding it up to a light. Good looking....let's see?
The smell is bourbon heavy!! This is not joke, it may be a bourbon, aged in beer barrels? Pretty decent smelling bourbon stout- I get some oak, vanilla, roasted malts, etc.. Not bad.
The taste is like the smell. A little too much bourbon on the palate. A nice stout that is good when not compared against others, like BCBS or KBS.
The drinkability is really hampered by the bourbon blast. I like a strong beer so it's pretty good, but it's not for the lightweight.
