This big, malty ale is dark, sweet and roasty with enough strength to make it a winter warmer.

Clear, light reddish brown, nice khaki head, great retention, streaky lace.
Deep malty aroma-caramel, toasted brown bread, touch of dark fruit
Big malt flavor. Toasted brown bread, some caramel, a bit of subdued fruit.
Full bodied but clean, appropriate carbonation
I like this a lot.

16 ounce can, canned 01.25.24, thanks to Brutaltruth for this one! Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a somewhat clear brownish/copper color with about a half inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like caramel, toasted malt and some nuttiness. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also a bit of smoke and dark berry flavors noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth and easy to drink with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this one, certainly worth trying if you get the chance!

From the pint can, it pours a clear mahogany color with a nice thick off-white (someone calls it khaki) head that slowly reduces and leaves lacing. The nose gets a nice bit of roasted malts and some caramel. The mouth follows with a light roast malt with some nuttiness. The mouthfeel is a bit chalky.

Dark amber hued with a half inch of creamy and densely packed khaki foam on top. Light, soapy lacing is present. The aroma is of lightly toasted to nutty malt. I’m tasting lightly nutty to toffee malt. The mouth is dry and and faintly chalky.

16oz canned 01/24/24 (just over 2 months ago) poured into a thistle glass at fridge temp 6.2% ABV 25 IBU per label. The beer pours bright darker amber with chestnut highlights and dark khaki colored head. The head recedes to a thin ring and single layer of bubbles. The aroma is mild with sweet caramel, malt and honey. The taste is semisweet toasted malt with a hint of acidilated malt and an earthy, woody hop flavor finish with mild bitterness. Mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, more of a good Scottish ale than a good Scotch ale as it falls in well below the minimum ABV for the style. Still tasty and definitely a great looking beer.

From the 16 oz can in a snifter. This solid scotch pours a
clear red tinged mahogany with a very nice head of off white foam
that settles to a thick ring, thin clumping layer, and displays some
excellent lacing. Nose of toasted malts, light orchard berry hints,
light smoked malts, caramel. Flavors find their place with peat
smoked malts, cherry, caramel, and earthy malts. Mouth feel is
medium, medium light carbonation, and a sweet and lightly
smokey finish that is subtly dry.

Overall, a great little scotch ale that I am thankful is finally
back in the Cincinnati area after so many years!

Cheers

From a sixteen ounce aluminum can, this beer has a deep brown color with reddish highlights. Slim off-white head. The aroma has a malt and caramel quality, backed with a little peat smoke scent. The taste is lightly sweet, but not overdone…bread, a little dark fruit, and more peaty notes. Full in body, enjoyable.

Very good example of the style; however, the flavors we're not too intense and seemed more subdued as one continues drinking. Highly recommended nonetheless.

Aroma reveals deeply caramelized malt and a hint of smoke. Fairly sweet.

Flavor is sweet and caramelly, as well, but there's a specialty malt fruitiness that prevents it from being cloying. Smoky undertones mixing in give the impression of cola. There's a bit of floral hop at the lightly dry finish. The fruity character is a bit overdone.
