Lagers are usually bright and clear with a clean maltiness and slight hoppiness, yet our White Lager takes the focus away from those qualities by retaining its yeast and emphasizing the hazy hue, hint of orange zest, and even, silky finish. Because of this unfiltered twist, it’s noticeably fresh with a slight tartness and sweetness.

12oz can pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color with vigorous nucleation and a thick, dense head of white foam that fades down to a thin layer while leaving tiny bits of lacing. Smells of light malts and honey with some faint yeast and hop notes. Light bready malt flavor with a slight honey note and a notable yeast flavor. Floral-herbal noble hops flavor with a mild bitterness that forms most of the aftertaste. Medium body, moderate sweetness, moderately bubbly carbonation mouthfeel, and a long finish.
This was a pretty solid offering from Schlafly; perhaps I have formed too harsh an opinion of their quality. I might consider buying again, but Urban Chestnut's Zwickel is honestly just better and is sold everywhere Schlafly is in St. Louis.

A bottle poured into a pint glass. Pour had a bright white slight foam head with a relatively clear pale golden body (mild effervescence was present). Scent is of a classic lager with some yeasty notes. Taste matches well with a nice, mild lager profile (low hops, a bit bready/yeasty). Feel is dry and both light and chewy (an interesting combination) with a mild bitterness in the aftertaste. An enjoyable offering!

Being a Saint Louisan, I’m usually not a schlafly beer fan… more urban chestnut or Perennial, average at best. Until after the Great Go Halloween run, schlafly was kind enough to donate beer. I was amazed how good this lager is ! Beautiful color , amazing taste, can’t recommend it enough.

12 oz bottle pours a very yeasty hazy pale golden color. Light citrus aroma, small creamy head. Mild sweet grain flavor. Solid Zwickelbier but nothing special.

Poured a cloudy whitish color with good head and lace. The aroma is really non-descript as I pick up tiny traces of yeast and malt. Smooth, clean, touch of bubblegum sweetness from malts and a touch of yeast (thanks to lack of filtering). Moderate balance of sweet and grainy, dry hops and has an ok finish. Not terrible but not what I was expecting and rather bland/pedestrian.

Pours a cloudy but not very opaque golden color. Three to four finger dense white head dissipates quickly leaving a partial half-moon of white foam on top of the beer.
Aroma has notes of yeasty bread, bready malts, a bright floral hop aroma with a slight spicy tinge and a mild sourdough like tang.
Taste has notes of bready malts, slightly sweet with a mild grainy character. Floral hops give way to a spicy lingering bitterness. Comes across like a rustic pilsner.
Feel is soft and light to medium bodied, a bit chewy almost. Spritzy carbonation keeps it easy drinking. Semi-dry on the finish.
Overall a valiant effort from Schlafly - better than many, but not quite up to the better German examples. Perhaps its closer to an unfiltered pilsner and that is what holds it back. Give this a more pronounced bready malt character and it would hold its own better.

Slightly hazy straw with medium head that dissipates quickly. Fruity smell with light pilsner malt. Clean taste and dry finish. A little alcohol. Crisp.

From a bottle, pours as a hazy yellow with a thin, white, and quickly dispersing head. Effervescent carbonation with a subtle grainy wheat malt aroma. Taste is malt forward (a light Pilsner-like maltiness). There is a crisp hop note; distinct without being overpowering. In the background, there are yeasty, bready, and grassy flavors. Overall a clean crisp refreshing lager (and I don't usually prefer lagers).

Appearance: Clean golden with a thick head of white suds. Little to no lace.
Aroma: Yeasty, honeyed malts.
Taste: Rich and malty, with a fairly heavy body but clean finish and a hint of subtle hops. A very nice and enjoyable Kellerbier.
