A bottle poured into a pint glass. Pour had a bright white slight foam head with a relatively clear pale golden body (mild effervescence was present). Scent is of a classic lager with some yeasty notes. Taste matches well with a nice, mild lager profile (low hops, a bit bready/yeasty). Feel is dry and both light and chewy (an interesting combination) with a mild bitterness in the aftertaste. An enjoyable offering!

Being a Saint Louisan, I’m usually not a schlafly beer fan… more urban chestnut or Perennial, average at best. Until after the Great Go Halloween run, schlafly was kind enough to donate beer. I was amazed how good this lager is ! Beautiful color , amazing taste, can’t recommend it enough.

12 oz bottle pours a very yeasty hazy pale golden color. Light citrus aroma, small creamy head. Mild sweet grain flavor. Solid Zwickelbier but nothing special.

Poured a cloudy whitish color with good head and lace. The aroma is really non-descript as I pick up tiny traces of yeast and malt. Smooth, clean, touch of bubblegum sweetness from malts and a touch of yeast (thanks to lack of filtering). Moderate balance of sweet and grainy, dry hops and has an ok finish. Not terrible but not what I was expecting and rather bland/pedestrian.

Pours a cloudy but not very opaque golden color. Three to four finger dense white head dissipates quickly leaving a partial half-moon of white foam on top of the beer.

Aroma has notes of yeasty bread, bready malts, a bright floral hop aroma with a slight spicy tinge and a mild sourdough like tang.

Taste has notes of bready malts, slightly sweet with a mild grainy character. Floral hops give way to a spicy lingering bitterness. Comes across like a rustic pilsner.

Feel is soft and light to medium bodied, a bit chewy almost. Spritzy carbonation keeps it easy drinking. Semi-dry on the finish.

Overall a valiant effort from Schlafly - better than many, but not quite up to the better German examples. Perhaps its closer to an unfiltered pilsner and that is what holds it back. Give this a more pronounced bready malt character and it would hold its own better.

Slightly hazy straw with medium head that dissipates quickly. Fruity smell with light pilsner malt. Clean taste and dry finish. A little alcohol. Crisp.

From a bottle, pours as a hazy yellow with a thin, white, and quickly dispersing head. Effervescent carbonation with a subtle grainy wheat malt aroma. Taste is malt forward (a light Pilsner-like maltiness). There is a crisp hop note; distinct without being overpowering. In the background, there are yeasty, bready, and grassy flavors. Overall a clean crisp refreshing lager (and I don't usually prefer lagers).

Appearance: Clean golden with a thick head of white suds. Little to no lace.

Aroma: Yeasty, honeyed malts.

Taste: Rich and malty, with a fairly heavy body but clean finish and a hint of subtle hops. A very nice and enjoyable Kellerbier.

Really enjoyable lager from Schlafly - I had it on tap at the bottleworks, but it has some characteristics that remind me of a hazy IPA rolled into a lager and I loved it. I had a bottle a few days later and will say the draft was a little better, but this will go into my rotation in the future!

Reaching way back into the goodie sack of history and dusting off the zwickle, the brewers at Schlafly push the lager further into the realm of craft by honoring German history and tradition with a rudimentary pilsner-like taste with an unadulterated haze, body and taste.

Pale gold and cast with a yeasty haze, their White Lager crowns with a creamy white froth. Its rich pilsner scent is floral with hops, yeasty with bread dough and sweet with grain. Its taste picks up on the grainy sweet taste of pilsner malt and with a bready texture, cereal and a hint of honey.

The middle palate holds firm with its malt regimen but the hops begin to turn less floral and more spicy. Lemongrass, lemon pepper and an overall grassy flavor. Cereal and spice develop a mild soapy character late along with a growing bitterness of straw and pepper. Mild esters of pear, apple and papaya begin to rise and the beer warms.

Medium bodied for lager bier, but still easy drinking enough not to deter the pilsner fans, the beer's creamy carbonation keeps the body firm yet drying in finish. Minty hops extend into a medium length aftertaste with cereal and floral character returning in the retro olfactory senses.

Good subtle earthy malt and mineral notes you'd expect from a zwickel. Maybe this is a factor of my can being four months old and how it was stored, but there's a cidery sweetness that pops up before citrus rind hops wash it away.

Pours a slightly hazed gold with 2 fingers of pearl colored head. Expected way more haze for sure, near zero head retention & lacing

S: Bready, grassy, a little perfumy hops once warm

T: Follows the nose , some doughy & peppery notes as well. More grassyness as this warms, slight grainy peppery notes, a little breadyness, plus some dryness. Finishes a little dry, grassy with some pear

MF: Medium body, slightly over carbonated

Not on style, but not fairly close, pretty easy to drink, I expected more, but still better than its current rating

Rare to see a US brewery to put out a kellerbeer let alone a kellerbeer with this level of quality. The pour is a light golden straw color not entirely filtered but not cloudy like your traditional kellerbeer. The taste is yeasty, its got some malt backbone with some light tea notes and a nice dry finish. Very good interpretation of a kellerbeer. Would recommend looking for this if you're into German beers and are looking for an alternative.

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger and a half high white head that died down, leaving a layer of bubbles covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of cracker malts are present in the nose along with faint hints of yeast.
T: The taste follows the smell, having light flavors of cracker malts and yeast.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer isn't nearly as yeasty and "chewy" compared to most of the other beers in the style.

Draft. Pours golden with white head. Aroma is of yeast, bready malt and some apples. Body is medium and crisp. Bready malt, spicy yeast and herbal hops fill the mouth. Finish is long and dry. Nice brew.
