Influenced by classic beers of the Baltic region, this rich, roasty black ale is slightly sweet, smooth and malty.

Pours with a thick fluffy head that dissipates down to a ring around the glass. Mild aroma and roasted malts and candy dominate the flavor. Slightly sweet then finishes dry. Fairly thin compared to expectation, but maybe the Baltic aspect. Another solid Schlafly offering. Glad to see them mixing things up with new offerings.

From a large bottle, this brew is a dark brown, nearly black color without much of a head at all...just a whisp of brown foam around the ring of the glass. The aroma is intense and malty...roasted malt is dominant along with a little hop and some smoke notes. Candy? Chocolate? The taste is dryer than expected. Malty, flavorful, full, hoppy bitterness at the mid-taste. Nice finish. Full in body, but not as rich as expected.

Black in color with no light penetration. There's fingernail of beige around the rim and covering a third of the middle. The aroma is comprised of dark, smoked malt and plums. I'm tasting dark, lightly smoked malt with just a hint of sweet plum and figs. The mouth is dry, lightly sticky, and chewy.

Poured out a dark, dark brown color with a small, light brown head of foam. It smelled a little roasty with some dark chocolate notes. This is a fine porter but it doesn't have the rich roastiness I expect in a Baltic Porter.

i love the style, but this is a strange example of it. a little lighter than most, almost more of a brown lager or something, the yeast profile is there, but this is really light as they go, and overall not quite as good as i was hoping for, although a well made beer, just a somewhat conservative interpretation of the style, not at all robust enough on the dark and roasty malts, and really lacking in body as well. hard to be too harsh on beer that tastes good though, and when have i ever really been too critical and serious about style guidelines in my beer appreciation? i usually looks for a bit more depth and substance on these, but i like the dark chocolate aroma and flavor, the subtle coffee note in here, and the quick flash of molasses sweetness before a drier finish with an appreciable lager yeast quality to it. good carbonation too, this is made to feel lighter seemingly on purpose. perhaps a hint of smoke, a raisin note, and a general smoothness that really is nice. its good to see these guys continuing to push style boundaries, and as much as this feels too light to me for my personal preferences, it tastes good and i respect it. these guys have upped their game in the last year or so it seems...

Pours a black color. 2/3 inch head of a tan color. Good retention and slight lacing. Smells of roasted malt, sweet malt, dark citrus, alcohol, wood, and acidic. Fits the style of a Baltic Porter. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. There is only a slight acidity. Tastes of sweet malt, hint of chocolate, slight roasted malt, hint of acidity, hint of piney hops, slight dark citrus, slight alcohol, and a hint of licorice. Overall, the aroma is exactly what I'm looking for in a Baltic Porter, but sadly the body while tasty is not reminiscent of a Baltic Porter.

Pours a very effervescent chestnut-hued mahogany with a pinky of tan head. Nice viscosity, zero head retention & lacing
S: Dark fruit, biscuitty malt
T; Toasty, dryness with a touch of nuttyness, plus biscuitty malt. Toastyness & chestnut as this warms, much dryness, woodyness & a little dark fruit ( plum & dark cherry ), some lactic sourness, maybe infected??? Finishes dry, toasty, & a little nutty
MF: Medium body, low carbonation
Drinks slow, a disjointed mess driving outside of the style lane. I am shocked they would put something out this dissapointing. Seemed more like a Brown Ale
