From a twelve ounce can, this beer pours a dark brown color with a firm, rocky, tan head. The aroma had a bready maltiness. Nutty and a bit of chocolate are in the aroma as well. The taste is relatively balanced, if not just a little dry, with a nice malt flavor. Medium body. Nice.

Dark amber with a fingernail of brown around most of the rim and just a faint wisp of it elsewhere on top. The nose is comprised of caramel and biscuity malt. I’m tasting toffee, caramel, and biscuity malt. The mouth is lightly sticky and smooth.

12oz can pours a dark reddish-brown color with a considerable head of light tan-colored foam that fades down to a thin layer while leaving substantial lacing. Smells of dark malts and caramel. Rich and robust flavor of dark malts, burnt malts, dark fruits, caramel, and a hint of cocoa. Medium to full-bodied with a light sweetness, mild bitterness, creamy carbonation mouthfeel, and a light burnt malt aftertaste.

This is a very solid Dunkel, and certainly a bit above what I expected from Schlafly. Would buy again.

12oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of coffee, chocolate, toffee and caramel. Nice coffee taste with toasted caramel and subtle chocolate.

A nicely average beer fro Schlafly's, this is a dark beer that is not opaque, imparts some lace from the slight head, and gives only a mild malt aroma. The taste is quite malty and also provides some chocolate accents to liven up the flavor.

The body is medium and finishes with a reasonable crispness. The drinkability of this beer would seem higher than many in this style. Overall, this is enjoyable beer that is nicely fit within the Schlafly's family of brews.

Nice light brown in color, with some reddish highlights. Substantial rocky head, that forms nice large lacing down the glass. Very little on the nose, other than a bit of dark/fruity malt, and, eventually, a raosty malt note. Palate is quite bright, but not as malty as expected. Malt makes more of appearance with time, but still subdued. Short on the finish. Schlafly is capable of making much better beers than this.

Dark clear reddish brown in color with a small white head that doesn't last. Bready flowery aroma, starts sweet and bready with a hint of caremel, light-medium bodied, somewhat of a watery mouthfeel, finishes smooth sweet. Seems kind of lighter this year than past years, pretty average IMHO
