APPEARANCE: Hazy, golden amber with a decent head of off-white suds. Very little lacing at all, though.

AROMA: Fresh citrus and hints of pine. Very pleasing.

TASTE: Citrus and pine hops all over, with a lightly bitter finish. Overall, a smooth and easy-to-enjoy homage to Sierra Nevada’s groundbreaking Pale Ale and Torpedo. Very much liked.

Light copper colored with a three quarter inch of densely packed off white head on top. It diminishes within minutes to a fingernail. Moderate soapy lacing is present. The aroma is of pine and citrus. I taste bitter orange with a strong pine finish. The mouth is lightly sticky and moderately resinous.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. "Bottled with love on" dating is blank. Based on other reviews, this is 2-3 months old.

Mixed look here. Body is a hazy dirty orange/yellow color. Head retention is excellent, foamy white, leaving layers of lacing.

Piney aroma.

On tasting, pine lighter than nose would suggest. Lingering bitterness, which is quite enjoyable after a couple of lighter beers.

Mouth medium, finish a pleasing lasting bitterness.

Overall, decent beer. My rating could have gone either way on all categories.

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is gold, transparent, head is off white with fine bubbles, head presents 1 finger thick then dissipates to thin top, thicker ring on the glass sides.

Smell is subdued - tried to agitate and aerate but still a bit light - notes of toasted malt, hint of caramel, light pine, earth, herbal hops, maybe some lemon.

Taste is a malt forward IPA but not sweet - toasted malt, light caramel, maybe some breadiness, hops are pine, earth, herbal, citrus rind.

Mouthfeel is light/moderate carbonation, light/moderate sweetness, fairly bitter finish and presence.

Overall a solid, maltier, bitter IPA in the west coast styling; hop aroma is lighter than most.

Pours an effervescent & slightly hazed amber with2 fingers of rocky eggshell colored head. Sheets of lacing & very good head retention. Finishes a little cakey with pine, pomelo & ;eafy hops

S: A little breadyness, pine & grassyness

T: Green melon, grassyness, dryness, a bit of pomelo & breadyness up front. Leafy hops, sweet & bitter orange as this warms, plus some breadyness. Finishes dry with leafy hops & grapefruit

MF: Medium body, fairly smooth carbonation, pretty good balance

Pretty solid, was hoping for more citrus

What is observed when two twelve ounce bottles are decanted into a clear glass liter mug? Immediately, a fresh piney smell arrives. The liquid is a cloudy, but not overly opaque copper-amber. There's a big foamy white head, but this tasting is done at room temperature. A good, but not great body carries a good, but not great hoppy brew. The body brings just enough malt sweetness, but it's a little thin, or at least not rich. The hops come across better. They are piney as advertised, then run bitter as they linger after the finish. The complaint is that although the hops go through changes, it's a one note taste. A good complexity is missing, but again, that doesn't make it bad. It's just not outstanding. One last minor observation; the glass lacing is in the average range.

12oz bottle. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of bubbly foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled very piney with citrus, toasted caramel and roasted malt. Sweet citrus, resinous pine and toasted caramel.
