After liking this one so much from the cask, I decided to take home a growler.

Appearance was yellow and hazy, head wasn't bad and lacing was pretty good.

Smell was even crisper than the cask had been. I think the cask mellowed it out a little, because there was so much hoppiness in the growler serving it was amazing! Lots of citrus too, along with some soft malts and wheaty grains.

Taste follows the smell almost exactly. Great stuff, moderate dryness with a great body that's super easy to drink and extremely refreshing. With the relatively low ABV, it's pretty sessionable.

Overall I'd once again like to say that this is Schlafly''s best wheat style beer yet. Great job!

This was the featured beer at this year's Hop in the City festival and since I enjoyed it there, I wanted to give it another try. Served on-tap in a pint glass at the Tap Room. Completely hazy straw-colored body with a small one-finger white head. A very small amount of lacing.

The aroma is very surprising. It starts out very hoppy, almost like an APA or IPA. The hops are followed by some citrus tones, mostly lemon with a bit of orange. A bit of sweetness in the background.

The flavor is equally surprising, featuring an excellent blend of spicy hop flavors and sweet grainy flavors. The citrus flavors tend more toward a lemon zest in the flavor as compared to the aroma. Very tasty.

Fairly light consistency in the mouthfeel. An excellent brew overall and I can only hope it remains a regular in the Schlafly. rotation. It really represents something needed in the craft beer genre; a tasty, low abv beer that is extremely sessionable.

Appearance: Pale, hazy yellow. Whenever its put into light, its a very pale yellow. Has some white hues to it even. I think most would call it “straw colored.” Leaves about 2-3 fingers of bleach white fluffy head. Leaves lots of lacing near the top and it leaves lacing all the way down as I drank. Interesting looking.

Smell: Lemongrass, citrusy grain, and a fairly obvious hint of lime zest. Very balanced. On the tail end, you catch the dry hops. A slightly bitter and yet fruity finish.

Taste: The taste is a bit larger than the nose-- which is good for a witbier. Once again, lemongrass, citrusy breads, a bit of lightly toasted malt, and lime zest. A very earthy and fruity brew. The lime seems to be as advertised and used in the spicing and the brewing process. The lime is easily noticed in the under-flavor. Sticks to the palate. A sign of a well-crafted wheat ale.

Mouth: light bodied, moderate carbonation appropriate for a hefeweiss or a witbier, and incredibly crisp. Great job!

Overall: I’ve thought that the wheat offerings from Schlafly have been slightly below average to slightly above average at best. They made this ale especially for a festival they throw once a year, and I say this one is lightyears away from the pack. It’s a damn shame that I’m usually short on funds, because this is the epitome of a session wheat ale. BOO YEAH!
